Jennifer Higdon began her musical career late in life – at age 15, when she taught herself to play the flute. She won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for her “Percussion Concerto.” It is the latest award for Higdon, who has been honored by the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts & Letters and the National Endowment for Arts and ASCAP. Higdon’s works have been recorded on more than two dozen CDs, including four that have received Grammys.
