Steve Demos ‘70

Steve Demos is bringing soy to the masses. After graduating, he started a natural nut butter company and operated a retail vegetarian deli called The Cow of China. In 1977, he made his first patch of tofu using money he borrowed to start White Wave Tofu. For the next 20 years, the company made various soy-based products; its Silk brand is the No. 1 soymilk in American. His most recent venture is NextFoods Inc., which produces GoodBelly, a line of stomach-soothing probiotic juice products aimed at baby boomers.
