James “Jim” Tucker Jr. spent his career at Ford Motor Company helping to open the door for others. He began with Ford in 1961 at the Ford Motor Engine Plant at Lima, the first salaried black employee at Lima. He was eventually promoted to the Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich., where he was coordinator of local negotiations and member of the Ford National Bargaining Team. Tucker represented Ford on the National Urban League’s Black Executive Exchange Program, a role that included teaching at historically black colleges.
