More than 33,000 students at San Diego State University call Stephen Weber “Mr. President.” Weber oversees one of the largest state universities in the country. He initiated a “Shared Vision” initiative, setting forth a road map for the university’s future that has successfully addressed academic excellence, student nurturing, diversity and social justice. Weber earned a bachelor’s in philosophy from BGSU, and a Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Notre Dame. Before becoming president of San Diego State University, he was president of the State University of New York, Oswego and the interim provost of the 64-campus SUNY system.
